Should I fly to Kalibo or Caticlan Airport?

Boracay is located in the Aklan province in Philippines. Because of the throng of tourists that have started to flock to Boracay in the recent years, more and more flights are available and it is no longer a hassle to get there. There are 2 airports located near Boracay and most people usually get confused over which one they should choose to land at.

The airport closest to Boracay is Caticlan and it takes about half an hour to reach the island from there. Caticlan airport currently only operates during the day and there are no night flights which limits the amount of flights each day.  Furthermore, the flight prices are more expensive due to the restricted number of flights that can land there. If you wish to save time and don't mind paying a premium fare, Caticlan airport is the right choice for you.

From Caticlan airport, turn out to the right and there will be many motor tricycles waiting at the side. The trip to Caticlan Jetty Port takes only about 5 minutes and costs about 50 pesos. There are boats to Cagban Jetty Port available from 5am to 10pm. Do note that you will need to pay 3 fees for the boat; 25PHP, 75PHP and 100PHP, for the boat fee, the environmental fee and the terminal fee respectively.  The boat will take about 15 minutes to reach the island.

The Kalibo airport was built to accommodate the increasing number of tourists and it is the popular choice for majority of the tourists whose destination is Boracay. As a result, it has become the fastest growing airport in the Philippines. Though it takes a longer time to travel to Boracay from this airport, it is favoured as there are an abundance of flights landing there and the airfares are cheaper. Many people prefer to land at Kalibo for these very reasons. The airport is also a lot bigger than the Caticlan airport.  If you have time to spare, you can even go and explore Kalibo, the capital of Aklan.

For those who are landing at Kalibo International Airport, you may either take a KIATA van to Caticlan Jetty Port for 200PHP, hop on a bus or try to negotiate a private hire vehicle. Get yourself comfortable as it will be a 2 hour drive. From Caticlan Jetty Port, take a boat to Cagban Jetty Port and you'll be in Boracay!

Transfers from both airports can be arranged that include both Van and boat fares along with trikes or vans to get you to your hotels.  Help with baggage is also included.  Ask Crystal or her staff at Boracay Beach Apartments for more information.
